Holland’s Pieter Weening claimed stage eight of the Tour de France today, pipping Andreas Kloden of Germany in a photo finish after a two-man sprint for the line.

Rabobank rider Weening took the victory as the last survivor of a seven-man break which attacked 141 kilometres into the 231.5km stage from Pforzheim in Germany to Gerardmer in France.

Six-time winner Lance Armstrong retained the yellow jersey but team-mate George Hincapie was relegated from second place to be replaced by Jens Voight of Team CSC, who is a minute behind the American.
