Holland’s Pieter Weening claimed stage eight of the Tour de France today, pipping Andreas Kloden of Germany in a photo finish after a two-man sprint for the line.

OSCAR FREIRE surprised himself and the Saarbrucken crowd gathered to cheer an Erik Zabel win by denying the German rider a victory on home soil yesterday.
