Taylor opponent to be revealed
When the pair fought in the Olympic Test Tournament at the venue last year, Jonas came out on top, 23-15, and she will carry Great Britain’s hopes of a medal at the real Olympic tournament.
To do that, she will have to beat both Underwood, who arrived here on a wildcard after a disappointing world championships in Qinhuangdao where she beat Daiana Sanchez (Argentina) 24-13 and Alexis Pritchard (New Zealand) 28-9 before losing to Ingrid Egner (Norway) 26-25.
Jonas, on the other hand, qualified after victories over Rebecca Price (Wales) 18-8, Sandra Brugger (Switzerland) 23-11, Sarita Devi Laishram (India) 25-22, and Ingrid Egner (Norway) 23-9, before losing to Sofia Ochigava (Russia) 18-10, in the quarter-finals.
Taylor has decisions over both boxers. At the world championships two years ago Taylor had to come from behind after taking a standing count to edge her quarter-final against Underwood 18-16. Previously she had beaten the American in Dublin and Athy.
Taylor beat Jonas 6-3 in Bulgaria a desperately close bout last year.
