Classy Chisholm adds to his growing reputation
Chisholm, a 24-year-old former national junior champion, was appearing in his fifth professional fight when he stepped up in class to meet the
24-year-old former ABA champion from Cardiff, who went in with a record of six wins from seven.
Woods, one of the brightest prospects to emerge from the famous Splott Adventure Club in some time, was expected to win this one but Chisholm had him on the run from the third round.
“I caught him with a good solid left hook in the third but he recovered quite quickly,” he recalled. “And then he came back in the fourth and boxed quite well.
“But his guard was open for a left hook and I caught him again in the fifth round.
“It was a lovely left hook but, amazingly, he stayed on his feet. When I caught him with another left over the top the referee stopped the contest.”
Yesterday he dashed back to London where he works as a personal trainer contracted to the Fitness First chain and working with a number of celebrities.
“Everyone is going on holidays and they all want to get fit quickly,” he laughed.
“I have not really had time to think about my next fight but my promoter Frank Moloney was at the ringside last night and he told me he was very impressed.
“He said he would be talking to me soon about another fight so I will wait and see. “He said we would be moving up another bar.
“In the meantime we will just enjoy this one. I will be back home in Cork next week for a couple of days break and I am looking forward to that,” he said.
