While he’s not trying to play the greatest golf courses, Gavin Lynch is breaking world records.
On the 12th hole in The European Club in Co Wicklow last Tuesday, Lynch from Skryne holed out a putt of 142.8 yards or 130.6 metres, breaking the previous record for a non-tournament putt set last November by DP Tour pro David Micheluzzi on the seventh hole in Yas Links in Abu Dhabi (139 yards or 127.1 metres).
Lynch’s stroke travelled from the fairway and onto the enormous 127-yard green, which is considered the largest putting surface in the world.
Lynch’s feat, which came after just one hour and 15 minutes of trying, is currently being considered by the Guinness Book of World Records.
