Horror opening round for Nelly Korda as Leona Maguire battles back at US Women's Open

Maguire dropped shots on the 10th and 17th but carded ended the day on 73 three strokes ahead of Áine Donegan who finished on six over 76.

Cavan's Leona Maguire finished on a three-over par 73 at the US Women's Open at Lancaster Country Club as World Number one Nelly Korda imploded spectucularly on the opening day.

Maguire sat tied in 66th four shots adrift midway through the first round after carding four bogeys and one birdie after a difficult opening day on the Philadelphia course.
