Injury setback for Woods

With The Masters less than a month away, Tiger Woods pulled out of another tournament with injury today.

The former world number one had a definite limp before withdrawing after 11 holes of his final round at the Cadillac championship in Miami.

Joint eighth overnight, Woods had bogeys on the sixth and seventh and then dropped another shot after hitting into water on the long 10th.

He played the next and saved par from a bunker at the 11th, but he had let go of his club after hitting into the sand there and decided not to risk aggravating the problem.

Woods had reconstructive knee surgery in 2008 and was out of action again last summer because of further leg trouble.

This time was especially disappointing and frustrating for the 36-year-old because a week ago he closed the Honda Classic with a 62 - the best last round of his career - and finished second to Rory McIlroy.

He is due to play his next PGA Tour event at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill the week after next, but that looks doubtful now with his priority to be fit for the opening major of the season at Augusta. That starts on April 5.

Woods was quickly into a car and away – and, perhaps surprisingly, was driving himself.
