Poor start for Hanson on final day of Czech Open

Peter Hanson’s four-shot overnight lead had disappeared after only three holes of his final round in the Czech Open at Celadna today.

The Ryder Cup-chasing Swede – he has to win to take ninth spot off Paul Casey - had his first bogey in 30 holes when he three-putted the second and dropped another shot after straying into sand on the short next.

England’s little-known Gary Boyd, yet to record a top-10 finish on the European Tour, was the one who pounced with four birdies in his first five holes taking him level on 10 under par.

And Boyd moved into the lead when Hanson made it three bogeys in a row with another three-putt at the fourth.

Yorkshire’s Simon Dyson, who would also go past Casey by taking the title, was two behind Boyd after four opening pars, but Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez - eighth on the points table – slipped three back by bogeying the fourth after he was put off by a cameraman on the tee and drove into thick rough.
