Defending South of Ireland Championship champion Niall Kearney suffered a shock defeat in the third round of the 2009 event today at Lahinch.

Defending South of Ireland Championship champion Niall Kearney suffered a shock defeat in the third round of the 2009 event today at Lahinch.

The Royal Dublin international, who is hoping to be named in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup side next weekend, lost 2 and 1 to Lucan's Richard O'Donovan.
