Former Masters champion Zach Johnson dropped two shots off the pace at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open as Matt Kuchar claimed the lead after the second day.

Johnson, the 2007 winner at Augusta, had been level with fellow American Marc Turnesa after opening rounds of 62 at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

However, a 65 dropped Johnson back as Kuchar, with a second successive 63, moved to 18 under and one ahead of Turnesa, who posted a 64.

Londoner Brian Davis followed yesterday’s 65 with a 68 to be 11 under for the tournament.

Fellow Englishman Kenneth Ferrie shot rounds of 66 and 70 for an eight-under total, well inside the cut line.
