Tommy Armour III closed with a double bogey to drop back to a six-way tie for the lead at the halfway stage of the St Jude Championship.

Armour carded a one-over-par 71 and was joined on three under overall by Michael Bradley, Jason Dufner, Dean Wilson, Gavin Coles and Marc Turnesa – the most players tied for the lead at a PGA Tour event since the Houston Open last year.

Germany’s Alex Cejka is the highest-placed European, tied for seventh on two under – while Spain’s Sergio Garcia was two over for the day to drop back to level-par.

Windy conditions and hard greens meant even-par represented a good score.

Boo Weekley entered round two with a one-shot lead but was 10 strokes worse today and tumbled down the leaderboard after a 75.

Vijay Singh and Davis Love III are at two-under, tied for seventh with Cejka and Michael Letzig.
