Pak in control at Jamie Farr Classic
Se Ri Pak moved into a dominant position after carding a three under-par 68 to open up a five-shot lead at the Jamie Farr Classic on Friday.
The South Korean carded a second round that featured four birdies and a bogey to build on her opening 63 at Highland Meadows Golf Club and move to 11 under-par.
Pak, who finished fourth here last year, has won this event four times and is closing in on her 24th career tournament title.
Five pars at the start of her round were followed by a birdie at the par-three sixth when she fired an eight iron to six feet.
Pak then made a five-footer for birdie on the par-five seventh and added a birdie from 16 feet at the 12th.
A drive into the rough at 15th led to Pak’s only bogey of the day but she bounced back at the next by draining a 22-foot birdie putt.
“I’ve finished the first two rounds and put up a good score. I’m very happy about it,” Pak said.
“Today was another solid round.
“All day I tried to keep it simple, just get on the greens and make some putts.
“I was trying not to make big mistakes out there.”
Pak’s closest pursuer is compatriot Jin Young Pak on six under-par after the South Korean posted a 69.
