Charles Howell surged to a one-shot lead after the third round of the Sony Open in Hawaii on Saturday.

Howell made his move with seven birdies in a 5-under-par 65 in a testing breeze at Waialae Country Club to move to 13-under after posting a 197 total.

Luke Donald shot 69 to stand alone in second place on 12-under, with halfway leader Paul Goydos another shot back after carding 70.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Tadd Fujikawa continued his fairytale run with a 66 which left him tied for eighth, only six shots off the lead.

Playing in front of a huge, appreciative gallery, the local hero recovered from an early bogey with six birdies in a 10-hole stretch.
