Showers halt World Cup

Torrential rain today forced play to be suspended in the final round of the World Cup in Barbados.

After heavy showers throughout the week, another downpour this morning left parts on the Sandy Lane course under water.

Play was halted shortly before 11.30am local time but the players were kept out on the course as tournament officials hoped the bad weather would soon pass through the area.

Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren were sharing the lead on 14 under par after opening with four pars in the foursomes format.

Overnight leaders Sweden had bogeyed the first two holes and Argentina had also dropped a shot on the first, leaving the three countries tied at the top of the leaderboard.
