Retief Goosen finally dislodged Jyoti Randhawa at the top of the HSBC Champions leaderboard today with nine holes left to play in the third round of the Shanghai tournament.

The South African hit a birdie on the short sixth to tie Randhawa at the top but then a bogey from the Indian allowed Goosen to take the outright lead and he was 11-under as he completed the front nine.

World number one Tiger Woods was three shots off his playing partner at eight under, a double bogey on the par-four seventh letting him down.

Padraig Harrington, who completed his first nine holes with a one-under 35, joins him at tied third while Randhawa is second after a disappointing run on the front nine, despite carding successive birdies on the first and second.

English duo Paul Casey and Luke Donald were making great runs at the leaders as they were tied at sixth on six under par with four holes remaining.

HSBC World Matchplay champion Casey finished the front nine two under and hit another two birdies on the 13th and 14th.

Hoping to add to his Honda Classic victory this year, Donald was making par throughout the day except for on the second when he hit a birdie.

New Zealander Michael Campbell was having a shocking third day as, despite having put himself in a promising position on Friday, six bogeys from the front nine saw him slide down the leaderboard.

UBS Hong Kong Open champion Colin Montgomerie, who starts the defence of his title in Fanling, Hong Kong next Thursday, was also having a poor day as two bogeys and two double bogeys saw him complete the front nine at five-over-par.

Defending champion David Howell was left floundering at tied 41st with one hole remaining as he hit two bogeys and a double bogey whilst managing just two birdies.
