Casey on the rise
The new world rankings made happy reading for Paul Casey today – but not so Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood.
While Casey is up to a best-ever 17th following his victory in the HSBC World Match Play Championship, Westwood has been knocked out of the top 50.
The Worksop golfer, one of Ian Woosnam’s two wild cards for this week’s match at the K Club, slips to 51st as a result of Ian Poulter’s win in the Madrid Masters.
Lee Westwood’s slide is set to cost him a place in the American Express World Championship at the Grove, near Watford, along with team-mate Paul McGinlay.
Both would need to get back into the top 50 by next Monday but, of course, neither are playing for ranking points this week.
