Edfors sets the standard

Swede Johan Edfors, tied for 24th at the start of the final day and six behind, had a chance to win the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond after a superb 63 today.

Edfors packed nine birdies in the first 14 holes to race two ahead, but bogeyed the 17th and missed a 15-foot birdie chance on the last.

He set the clubhouse mark of 13 under par and after a bogey on the ninth Dane Thomas Bjorn was one behind and Darren Clarke two back.

Bjorn and Clarke resumed as joint leaders, but went to the turn in 35 and 36 respectively against Edfors’s 30.

Clarke dropped into a tie for third with England’s Luke Donald and Benn Barham, South African Charl Schwartzel and Argentina’s Andres Romero.
