The final round of golf’s World Cup in Portugal was delayed by rain today.

Welsh pair Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd, seeking the biggest wins of their careers and a cheque for over £400,000 per man, led by two overnight from defending champions England – David Howell and Luke Donald – and Swedes Henrik Stenson and Niclas Fasth.

As with the third round tee-off times had been brought forward because of the weather forecast but an indefinite suspension was announced as the downpour continued.

There looked little chance of any morning play, which raised the possibility of the event spilling into Monday.
