DiMarco hangs on
Chris DiMarco carded eight bogeys but still had a share of the lead after the third round of The International in Colorado.
DiMarco shot a five-over-par 77 but is still joint top of the leaderboard with Australia’s Rod Pampling at 29 points under the modified Stableford scoring format at Castle Pines.
Germany’s Alex Cejka is one point further back, with Tom Pernice and Bob Tway three points behind the leaders.
“It could have been worse,” admitted DiMarco. “I think I was a bit careless, having that big a lead, but I actually hit the ball well on the back nine.”
Pampling, by contrast, was rock solid, dropping just one shot in a three-under 69 that was worth seven points.
“I left a lot out there,” he said. “I played well tee-to-green. It was one of those days where I burnt the edges, hopefully they’ll go in tomorrow.”
Pampling started the round nine points behind DiMarco, only to take the lead after 13 holes.
Cejka also moved into contention for his first PGA Tour win after carding a five-under 67.
