Singh seeks chance to sink Woods
Vijay Singh could go to the Volvo PGA championship at Wentworth later this month with a chance to topple Tiger Woods from the world number one spot.
Woods has been top for a record 247 successive weeks dating back to August 1999, but Singh’s back-to-back victories on the US Tour have narrowed the gap to only 2.04.
And that could disappear if the Fijian does not take his foot off the accelerator which on Monday saw him play the last eight holes of the HP Classic in New Orleans in seven under par to win by one.
The two are opposing each other this week for the first time since the Masters, Woods returning from a three-week break for the Wachovia Championship in North Carolina.
