Ernie Els unexpectedly hit into water on the final hole to lose the outright lead in the Dubai Desert Classic today.

A bogey six gave the defending champion a second round 68 and a 10 under par halfway total of 134 – the same as England’s David Lynn and Finn Mikko Ilonen. It was his first dropped shot of the event.
