Woods partners Azinger

American Ryder Cup captain Curtis Strange revealed some more of his thinking today as practice continued for the match at The Belfry.

While three of his pairings were the same as yesterday, the other three were new - and Tiger Woods was included in the changes.

After partnering Mark Calcavecchia on his first look at the midlands course the world number one was put out with Paul Azinger, one of Strange’s two wild card choices and the man who has overcome cancer to return to the United States team.

Phil Mickelson was with David Toms again, while Strange also kept David Duval and Davis Love together and retained the partnership of Hal Sutton and Scott Verplank.

The other changes saw Calcavecchia with Scott Hoch and Jim Furyk paired with Stewart Cink.

It was the Americans out first today - and that should mean no slow-play problems.

European captain Sam Torrance made an apology to Strange yesterday after his side held up their opposition.

The change in order was not done for that reason. It was pre-planned.
