Rain delays play in Sweden

The start of play in the Scandinavian Masters was delayed this morning after heavy rain flooded parts of the Kungsangen course.

Overnight thunderstorms and further rain this morning left standing water on some greens and fairways and put the start time back an hour to 8:30am local time.

Colin Montgomerie still had an early start in defence of his title however, the Scot due out shortly after 9am with Australian Adam Scott and Swede Robert Karlsson.

Montgomerie’s former caddie Alastair McLean, who worked with the former European number one for 10 years before their split earlier this year, now carries Scott’s bag, while Karlsson’s caddie Jason Henning also caddied in one tournament for Montgomerie before he linked up with current caddie Andy Prodger.

“I can’t wait until Adam comes up short or goes long and I can say ’I had to put up with that for 10 years!”’ joked Montgomerie, who has not won since his one-shot victory over Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter in Malmo 12 months ago.

“But I still have a good relationship with Alastair, it was never that that finished our working relationship.”
