Australian Craig Parry birdied the 18th hole to help give him a one-shot win in the New Zealand Open.

Parry saw a two-shot deficit turn around on the 17th hole when New Zealander Michael Campbell three-putted for a double-bogey. Parry then went on to birdie the 18th to finish with a 68 for a four-round total of 273, 11-under par.

Campbell was among several New Zealand golfers who threatened to boycott their national Open when organisers increased ticket prices by nearly 10 times to cover the cost of Woods' reported $2m appearance fee.

Campbell relented when tournament organisers agreed to let juniors in for free.

Campbell, who missed an eagle putt on 18 that would have forced a playoff with Parry, finished in a three-way tie for second at 10-under after shooting a 69. Also tied for second were Steve Alker (70) of New Zealand and Stephen Leaney (71) of Australia.
