Golf: Seve in the field for World Match Play
Seve Ballesteros will play in this week's Cisco World Match Play championship at Wentworth.
With no Americans in the 12-strong field for the first time in the event's 37-year history, the Spaniard was approached by the organisers and asked to make his record-equalling 20th appearance.
The 44-year-old has made only two halfway cuts all season and has earned just £7,500, but even if he loses in Thursday's opening round he will take home £50,000.
Ballesteros last played in 1994 and won the last of his five titles - a record he shares with South African Gary Player.
Defending champion Lee Westwood, Vijay Singh, Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie are expected to be the four seeds given a bye into Friday's quarter-finals.
Ian Woosnam and Nick Faldo will be in first round action along with Ballesteros, US Open champion Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Thomas Bjorn, Canadian Mike Weir and Australian Adam Scott.
