Golf: Harrington leads Irish challenge in Germany
Veteran Bernhard Langer goes into the final round of the German Masters in Cologne with a one shot lead over the chasing bunch of Greg Owen, Stephen Leaney and Fredrik Jacobson.
Langer birdied the eighteenth hole of his third round to remain just ahead of the pack on seventeen under par as he aims to capture the 39th victory of his career. John Daly is just three shots adrift on -14 after he shot an excellent 64 yesterday.
Padraig Harrington is the main Irish challenger; he starts the day on -12 after a solid third round 67.
Paul McGinley is just one shot further back on -11 after a 68 but Darren Clarke will be very disappointed with his 71 which leaves him on -10.
Aer he had been in contention for the first two days he now faces a difficult task to return to the top of the leader board.
es Smyth is the other Irishman in the field; he is on -2 after he shot a level par 72 yesterday.
