Dutch Open: Coltart eyes second tour title
Andrew Coltart has his sights set on a second title on the European Tour this year after a splendid first-round 66 in the Dutch Open.
The 31-year-old Scot, currently 10th in the Ryder Cup standings, goes out this afternoon looking to build on his five-under-par score at the Noordwijkes links course.
Having won the Great North Open last month, he has made a sound start to this event and trails only local favourite Niels Boysen, a 27-year-old amateur, who carded a seven-under-par 64.
And Coltart sees reasons for his own success developing after finishing level with compatriot Dean Robertson and Englishman Peter Baker.
Coltart said: "The manner in which I won at Slaley Hall proved something to me - you don't need to play fantastic golf for four rounds to win and it just whets the appetite a little bit.
"I am playing reasonably well, my putting had gone off the boil a little bit but I think it's just around the corner again and I can't see any reason why I am not challenging for tournaments more often.
"I was maintaining the swing and tempo all the way around and it was good to come back after taking a double bogey and keep the head screwed on and continue to focus on the next shot.
"Slaley proved to me that if I can hole some putts, my game's good enough. I can challenge if the ball is going into the hole on the greens.
"You will see me spend a lot more time putting instead of worrying about the perfect golf swing and trying to get the perfect golf swing. That just doesn't happen."
