Spanish Open: Errors see Clarke slip back

Uncharacteristic errors mean Darren Clarke is gradually losing touch with the lead in the Spanish Open at Valencia.

On the sixth he missed a 12 foot putt for what would have been his first birdie of the day.

Haeggman meanwhile drove into dunes off his drive on the same hole, then found trees on the right with his second, but somehow rescued a par with a gutsy 10-foot putt.

Both players parred the seventh and eighth before Clarke missed a four-foot putt at the short nine for par and slipped back to seven under.

Haeggman moved into second place on his own thanks to four birdies in his first eight holes, but a bogey on the par-three 12th dropped him back into a tie at seven under.

Also on that mark were Hansen, Jimenez and Remesy. Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin is the current clubhouse leader after a seven-under-par round of 65 put him at six under for the tournament.
