Revitalised Woods to unveil new ‘old’ swing

Woods, has not competed since posting a pair of 74s to miss the cut in the PGA Championship won by Rory McIlroy.
Tomorrow the 14-time Major winner makes his comeback at the Hero World Challenge at Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Orlando — and the star admits he went back to old footage as he looks to recapture some of his best form.
“I spent the time looking back on my golf swing way back to my amateur days, and all the way up until I was working with Sean (Foley) and everything in between,” Woods said last night.
“I was very surprised and excited to see how Chris felt my swing should look like. It was very similar to the vision I had, and that’s where we’re at right now.”
Asked for detail on the swing, Woods added with a smile: “It is new, but it is old. I say that because I haven’t done it in a very long time.
“Having a couple of months off allowed me to do that but what was very interesting was trying to find a VHS recorder!
“But in turning now to Chris, and on the recommendation of Sean, it is going to be beneficial because his view of my golf swing is where it should be is aligned to where I also believe it should be. Straight away that was good synergy.”
Woods’ return also heralded a four-year deal he’s signed to be an ambassador for Hero motorcycles reputedly worth $8m (€12m) a year.
