Ireland will go into today’s Women’s Home Internationals at Cork Golf Club with team captain Claire Coughlan-Ryan determined her side can make a mockery of the world rankings.

Hosting the event for the first time since 2005, Ireland, who have not won the event since back-to-back wins in 2003 and 2004, will be without star names Stephanie Meadow, the British Amateur champion from Royal Portrush, who has returned to college in America and the Maguire twins, Lisa and Leona.

They open their campaign against favourites and defending champions England, with a team boasting three members of the victorious GB & Ireland Curtis Cup team which defeated the USA at Nairn earlier this summer, Holly Clyburn, Bronte Law and English champion Kelly Tidy.
