Ace in the hole for Dustin

DUSTIN JOHNSON lit up Royal St George’s yesterday with a hole-in-one from 161 yards on the par-three 16th hole in the opening round yesterday.

Ace in the hole for Dustin

It was the first hole-in-one at the British Open since Thomas Levet managed the feat at Turnberry’s 15th hole during the final round in 2009.

American Ryder Cupper Johnson had reached the 14th at four over par but closed birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie-bogey to finish with a level-par 70 — but was in no mood to dwell on the third hole-in-one of his career.

“I’m not very excited at all,” Johnson said.

“I’m going home to sleep. I’m not feeling all that well. My glands are all swollen. I’ve got some kind of infection. I’m on some kind of antibiotics, so hopefully it will go away.”
