Pettersen joins line-up for Irish Open Pro-Am

LADIES representing a dozen Irish golf clubs will tee it up alongside the world’s best in the AIB Ladies Irish Open Pro-Am at Portmarnock Links on July 10.

The championship has attracted the world third ranked player, Suzann Pettersen of Norway and the 15th placed American Morgan Pressel. The clubs to come through the qualifying process at venues throughout the country were Rosslare, Ennis, Adare Manor, Gort, Galway Bay, Glen of the Downs, Headfort, Highfield, Ashbourne, Enniscorthy, Castle Hume and Nuremore.

Almost 200 clubs entered the Club Challenge with over 1,000 teams and over 3,000 ladies participating in the four regional finals at Galway, Dun Laoighaire, Cork and Royal Belfast.

The successful teams were:

At Cork: Rosslare (Joan Bowe, Margaret Purcell, Liz O’Callaghan), 88 pts; Ennis (Mary Colton, Brid Cunningham, Kate O’Ceallaigh), 89 pts; Adare Manor (Martina Scanlon, Margaret Shovlin, Carol Shine), 91 pts.

At Galway: Gort (Maureen Brennan, Sara Broderick, Olga Price), 86 pts; Galway Bay (Margaret Harkin, Fiona O’Driscoll, Jacinta Quinn), 85 pts.

At Dun Laoghaire: Glen of the Downs (Fionnuala Halpin, Vera Miller, Lucy Ann Behan), 87 pts; Headfort (Aine Lee, Evelyn MacMahon, Kathleen Rooney), 72 pts; Highfield (Nora Walsh, Maura Moore, Mary Daniel), 79 pts; Ashbourne (Helen Caulfield, Patricia Blaney, Brenda O’Keeffe), 72 pts; Enniscorthy (Eimear McGrath, Marie Dunphy, Beatrice Ensor), 72 pts

At Royal Belfast: Castle Hume (Lily O’Connell, Marion McGinty, Roisin Henry), 84 pts; Nuremore (Kathleen Connolly, Linda Connolly, Michelle Connolly), 83 pts.
