Curtis meets his match

BRITISH Open champion Ben Curtis has himself double booked this Saturday — he plays the third round of the $6 million WGC-NEC Invitational and then rushes off to get married to longtime sweetheart Candace Beatty.

Curtis meets his match

And the 32-year-old admits its going to be the most nerve-wracking day of his life.

“Hopefully I won’t be too bad but I know it’s going to be nerve-wracking,” said Curtis, who had never finished better than 13th before his shock win at Sandwich.

“I’m just going to try and calm myself down and not worry about it because I know I’ll be looking at my watch the whole day, and saying let’s go, let’s get out of here.

“But I’m going to have a lot of fun and not worry about it. Candace said just go out there and play good.”

If Curtis does play well he faces having to set the wedding back four hours.

The invitation has the time listed at 5 o’clock but if Curtis is up with the leaders he will not tee off until three and still be on the course at wedding time.
