Dooks golf course to get major facelift

A sum in the region of €3.5 million has been earmarked for course and clubhouse development at the Dooks Club near Glenbeigh in Co Kerry.

Congestion in the finishing stretch has proven a problem for many years but with renowned golf architect Martin Hawtree's alterations plan, holes 15 to 18 are expected to be in play by May.

The development will see the par three 15th extended to a par four; a new tee and green developed at 16; the 17th lengthened by 60 yards and a forward tee at 18 to change it from a par five to a par four of 430 yards. The old first is undergoing major change with a new green among mounds adjacent to the old second hole.
