Britain and Ireland move up leaderboard
The team moved from 20th after the second round to tied-12th with a five-under-par 141 in the four-day event, which is being led by Thailand.
The surge was largely due to the vastly improved form of Emma Duggleby, the 30-year-old former English, British and European champion from Malton and Norton in Yorkshire.
After two thoroughly disappointing days, Duggleby fired a four-under-par 69, finishing with birdies on her final two holes.
“My course management was much better today and so was my putting. It was the practice after yesterday’s round that really helped,” said Duggleby.
Wales’ Becky Brewerton returned a one under par 72 for the second consecutive day and is in 24th spot in the individual rankings out of the 117 competitors.
“I made some stupid mistakes and struggled on the front nine but then seemed to get my game together,” Brewerton said.
Leading 54-hole scores: 430 Thailand, 431 Spain, 433 Australia + Germany, 435 USA, 436 Finland, 440 Italy + Sweden, 441 Korea + Mexico, 442 Japan, 444 Colombia, Norway + Gt Britain & Ireland (69 E Duggleby, 72 B Brewerton, discounted 77 H Stirling), 445 Canada + New Zealand, 447 Chinese Taipei + France, 448 Denmark, 449 Netherlands.
