Athlone makeover

Athlone Golf Club is undergoing major redevelopment at a cost of €1.5m.

Already, phase one has been completed with the provision of some new greens, tees and water features. The next phase will commence later in the year.

The remaining greens and tees will be either relocated or updated and all the greens will be sand-based.

The course is situated four miles outside the town on the Roscommon road and is surrounded on three sides by the middle lake of the River Shannon - Lough Ree.
