Munster boys retain title

HOLDERS Munster retained the GUI Boys Interprovincial Championship played at Portumna Golf Club yesterday.

They comprehensively defeated runner-up Ulster by eight and a half to a half in a tie where they won all six singles.

This was the third time that Munster had won this title, having previously won in 1997 at Nenagh and last year at Headfort.

Leinster came third following their success over Connacht in the other tie.

Mary Walsh and Tara McCarthy of East Cork Golf Club are winners of the 2003 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ladies Golf Challenge.

The Cork team finished the day with a fantastic forty-five point score.

Taking second place, with 43 points and representing Newcastlewest Golf Club in Limerick was Martina McAuliffe and Kay Cussen. Third place was awarded to the Co Monaghan team, from Mannan Castle Golf Club; Gill Rouiller and Sadie Larkin, who came in on 41 points.
