Euro stars lack commitment, says Faldo
And he suggests they ought to be more like him if they want to be winners.
It is 17 majors since a European Paul Lawrie at the British Open at Carnoustie in 1999 has won a major and Faldo has no doubt what the problem is.
"They are not built like NF (Nick Faldo) are they," said the 43-year-old, who pulled out of last week's USPGA championship after his wife Valerie gave birth to a daughter but is set to play today in the WGC-NEC Invitational.
It brought an end to his run of playing in 65 straight majors.
Faldo stressed that until European players began showing the same dedication and commitment he showed in his prime, the drought would continue.
"It is understanding the commitment required," explained the Englishman who has won three Masters and three British Opens.
"Tiger has brought this attention to detail. Everybody is talking about how Tiger has gone down, but he has obviously over the last five years inspired a lot of guys to come up.
"Rather than just being talented golfers, they are better prepared physically and mentally, technically, all those areas. They are turning golfers into athletes now," he added.
Faldo insists that very few of the European players are meeting the standards required.
"Well some are but it is a level of commitment, you have to give 100% in all areas now.
"The talent is there but they have just got to put it together," said Faldo. "I'd like to help them. If they want to come and seek my advice."
Faldo admits he has not put in enough practice for this weeks WGC-NEC Invitational.
Instead he has been concentrating on getting his fitness level up.
