A little over a fortnight after  their victory in the All-Ireland club football final has come another win for Dingle. The Kerry club announced on Wednesday that local landowner Shane O'Connor has donated a 1.61 acre parcel of land adjoining their grounds at Páirc an Ághasaigh.

"This generous gift will play a vital role in our plans for the enhancement and future development of our community facilities," the club said.

"This exceptional gesture is the culmination of years of quiet dedication and meticulous planning — a process Shane and his late wife Maura entered into with the future of Dingle in mind. The additional land represents an invaluable asset to our club as we strive to deliver improved facilities and amenities for our members and for the wider community across the Dingle Peninsula, both now and for generations to come."

Dingle announced in October that its planned new community facility — projected to cost €3.47m — will be named after Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh. The development will include community spaces, meeting rooms, and accessible toilet facilities, and will be available to all sporting and non-sporting groups in the area.

"Shane and Maura’s generosity continues a proud tradition of giving back to the community," the club continued.

"People will recall how they previously donated nearby land to facilitate the construction of West Kerry Community Hospital, an act of kindness that continues to have a profound and positive impact on our community every day.

"On behalf of everyone at CLG Daingean Uí Chúis, we extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Shane and to the memory of Maura for this truly exceptional contribution. We look forward to working closely with our members and the wider community as we develop plans to ensure this land is used to its fullest potential for the benefit of all."
