At half-time in Thurles yesterday, as the rain began coming down in sheets, you just knew that a difficult job had now effectively become impossible for Éire Óg in trying to hunt down Ballygunner. Within a couple of minutes, Éire Óg were ten points down. Game over.
Ballygunner are such an incredible side that there was no way back for Éire Óg. The Townies looked way poorer than they are but there also looked to be a little bit of stage-fright in the group too, especially in those handful of minutes after half time when they coughed up three successive scores from mistakes that were largely down to inexperience.
