Thirty-three seconds had passed since the hooter. Roscommon traveled back and forth along the arc.
Who would be brave enough to shoot? A two-point deficit in front of them. A successful kick would extend their summer.
They needed only a draw. Only victory would do for their opponents.

An All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final for Kerry at home next weekend. Meath join Armagh in the last eight in a separate All-Ireland quarter-final.
Kerry are going down without a whimper here in Tullamore.
Meath have been hungrier from the get-go, scooping up endless ball around the middle, and kicking points for fun, the latest of which comes from Ciaran Caulfield, to make it 1-22 to 0-16.
Into the final minute and the last remaining unbeaten championship record of 2025 is going up in smoke.
Kerry will be out next weekend, and so much will depend on how many of their frontliners they can get off the treatment table and onto the field.
Big score for Cork. Very patient under pressure and O'Mahony slots it over. Roscommon quickly attack but Murtagh hits it wide.
Cork with a free and a chance for two points. But they go short.

Conor Carroll nailed resulting '45. Gap back to three, 0-18 to 0-15. 59 minutes gone.
Not a great time for GAA+ to break in the Roscommon v Cork match.
Meath are not dreaming. They are 10 ahead and full value for it. Kerry staring down the barrel of three games in three weeks if they want to make the last eight.
Huge turnover and length-of-the-field move by Cork. Lead back out to five. Maguire and O'Callaghan so influential from play and on the scoresheet.
And there’s the coup de grace, Meath midfielder Bryan Menton on his own takes the pass from Caulfield and finishes to the net. 1-21 to 0-14. Stick a fork in this one, it’s done
Has this SFC Rd 3 game swung decisively the way of Meath?
A pair of sweet two pointers from Kinsella and Dyke put them into a commanding 0-21 to 0-14 lead. It’s a long way back for Kingdom now. Can’t see them retrieving this one, Meath are playing with pace and poise now. 15 left…

Ruairi Kinsella's second two-pointer has put Meath five up. Then another two-pointer for Meath, Conor Duke. Super football.
: Goalkeeper Conor Carroll almost going too quick off the kickout tee.
Roscommon lost two kickouts in succession, the latter of which resulted in Seán McDonnell's third of the evening.
Mark Cronin extends Cork's advantage.
Massive chance for Meath to put daylight between sides, Cathal Hickey’s close in shot blocked by Shane Ryan (All Star form) and then perhaps surprised Sean Coffey snatches at the rebound and puts it wide from 3m out!
A goal in it, 0-17 to 0-14 with 54 mins gone.
Cork motoring now with back-to-back scores from Colm O'Callaghan and Sean McDonnell.

Daire Cregg adds to his and Roscommon's tally. Great start to the second period for the Rossies.

Back underway in both games and Roscommon reduce the deficit with an excellent score. Almost a two pointer.
Seconds into the half and Cathal Hickey is black carded for a trip. Major blow for Meath.
Half time in Tullamore, and the pitch is teeming with kids playing ball. Kerry subs trying to weave between the masses to do their interval work.
O’Connor Park in Tullamore is a properly run venue, from the excellent pitch to the courteous and helpful officials to the myriad of shops around the ground selling treats.
Slick operation, doing the simple things well. Other venues could do a lot worse than observe and learn….
8,265 in attendance.
And breath. So far so good for Cork against Roscommon but Kerry have work to do against Meath.
Insult to injury for Kerry as they commit a three-up offence and Frayne puts Meath six clear.
An abysmal half for the Munster champions. No purchase in the middle of the field and the likes of David Clifford have largely been bystanders.

Two short and three wide for Roscommon. They are the more wasteful of the pair.
Sean McDonnell punishes with a point Ciaráin Murtagh's attempt failing to go the distance at the other end.
Ian Maguire there with his second point, both could have been goals. Four-point gap is the biggest to separate the teams thus far.

A pair of classy two pointers from Meath, the latter off the outside of Ruairi Kinsella’s right foot eases the Royals four clear on 28 mins, 0-11 to 0-7.

Meanwhile Conor Duke has added another, it’s now 0-12 to 0-7 on the half hour.

Little intensity in Tullamore. Meath have picked holes in Kerry's defence at times but when Kerry put on the press, the difference between the sides is exposed.
Last two Roscommon points have come from Cork turning the ball over deep in Roscommon territory. Just a smidgen more composure required both in Cork's decision-making and in cognisance of greasy surface.
Brian Hurley scores for Cork but Daire Cregg hits back for Roscommon.
Spoke too soon about those comebacks by Cork and Kerry. All square in both games now.
Scores for Donal Keogan and Conor Duke points.

Maurice Shanley, named at corner-back, is operating at centre-back for Cork.

Adam O'Neill's shot is kept out well by Shane Ryan but Jordan Morris follows it up with a pointed free. Slow start for Kerry.

Both Cork and Roscommon stand for the national anthem in Laois which is our focus but we will have updates from the other games.
5 minutes until throw-in. Roscommon appear to have won the coin toss.
One change to Roscommon team. Donie Smith in, Colm Neary doesn't start. Cork as selected.
Looks like the traffic around the Laois Hire O'Moore Park hasn't improved.
Can someone ask the GAA to defer throw in for the Cork game? From a few stricken Cork fans on the M8
— Joanne O’ Riordan (@JoanneOR_Ox) June 14, 2025
Although it's a neutral game, Meath are wearing their own jersey and Kerry their second kit.
Jack O’Connor will get a real sense of his panel depth today in Tullamore. Conditions will be difficult and Kerry go to battle without Briain O Beaglaoich, Diarmuid O’Connor, Barry Dan O’Sullivan, Paudie Clifford, Sean O’Shea and Paul Geaney. Big day for the likes of Dylan Geaney and Killian Spillane. Need to put down a marker.
15 minutes to go until throw-in in both Cork's clash with Roscommon and Kerry's meeting with Meath.
All-Ireland SHC preliminary quarter-final scene setter from Newbridge The rain is bucketing down at Cedral St Conleth's Park as both teams go through their warm-ups.
Dublin haven't played a game since concluding their Leinster SHC round robin campaign on May 25 with a five-point defeat to Galway, costing them a provincial final place.
There is still no Donal Burke in their squad, a significant blow to their forward options.
Kildare, meanwhile, come into the game with a giant question mark over their head. Can they recreate the performance they produced in last Sunday's Joe McDonagh Cup final, when they beat Laois?
They spent a couple of days celebrating after that and, it's understood, James Burke is unavailable through injury despite being named in the official team list.
The game throws in at 4pm.
