Former Mayo manager and current Football Review Committee member James Horan hopes the steps rule is consistently enforced in the 2025 Gaelic football championship to allow for physicality in the game.

Speaking on the Irish Examiner’s Gaelic football podcast, available to all Examiner subscribers, Horan said it is too early to make an assessment of the low turnovers in certain games. Donegal’s win over Derry had just 15 turnovers in the entire match. Their championship meeting last year had 35.
