Christy O'Connor: Nobody would have predicted this club hurling final
This is only the fourth hurling final in the last 40 years that is being contested by two teams which had never won a provincial title or reached an All-Ireland final before.

At the outset of the last decade, when Portumna’s period of dominance of the All-Ireland club championship appeared as if it may be coming to an end (after Ballyhale Shamrocks had halted their bid to win a third successive title in 2010), the loosening of that grip ushered in a whole new era for the All-Ireland club championship.
