Waterford hurling great Martin Óg Morrissey dies aged 90

Waterford hurling legend Martin Óg Morrissey has died aged 90.

The Mount Sion clubman was a part of the Déise side that won the 1959 All-Ireland hurling title, as well as winning three Munster medals with the county.

An accomplished centre-back, he won an incredible 15 senior county hurling medals with his club -- including a nine-in-a-row run between 1953 and 1961 -- as well adding five football titles. 

Morrissey captained the Mount Sion CBS team to Harty Cup glory in 1953 before graduating to be a cornerstone of a Waterford team that enjoyed a golden era. 

After a career in which he also won four consecutive Railway Cups, he went on to become a selector for the Déise in 1982 and manager a year a later for a season.
