Storm Ashley has had a further impact on GAA fixtures in the west with the Clare senior hurling final and two Galway senior hurling semi-finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon postponed.

The Clare SHC decider between Feakle and Sixmilebridge, scheduled for Cusack Park in Ennis on Sunday afternoon, has now been provisionally fixed for the same venue on Bank Holiday Monday, October 28.

Meanwhile, the Galway CCC had met on Friday evening and decided that if the orange weather alert for Sunday was still in place at 3pm on Saturday afternoon they would postpone the semi-finals between champions St Thomas’ and Cappataggle and the meeting of Loughrea and Clarinbridge.

The two games will now take place at Kenny Park in Athenry next Saturday.

As a result the Galway hurling final scheduled for November 3 has now been put back a week until the following Sunday on November 10.

All other GAA fixtures in Galway and Clare planned for Sunday have also been called off.

The Mayo SFC final, which was due to take place at MacHale Park in Castlebar on Sunday afternoon between Knockmore and Ballina Stephenites, was postponed on Friday.

It will now take place next Saturday evening in Castlebar.
