Before last year’s All-Ireland camogie semi-finals, Donal O’Rourke, the current Cork hurling coach, who had worked with Cathal Murray in Galway when they won the 2021 camogie All-Ireland, spoke about Murray, and how he had not just changed the face of Galway camogie, but the game in general.

“What Cathal and Robbie Lane, his S&C and right-hand man, have done for Galway camogie is phenomenal,” said O’Rourke. “I would say they changed camogie forever, the two of them. They changed the way camogie teams prepared. To have a full-time S&C coach was unheard of.”
