As far as stadium events go, she provides the opposition to this weekendâs All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals. Dublin is Bethlehem and there is not a reasonably-priced room at an inn to be got. Taylor Swiftâs in town and if people arenât making money, theyâre spending it.
Those content to be in Croke Park and Aviva Stadium on Saturday and Sunday wouldn't appear to have a whole lot in common, but as Swiftâs Dublin cousin Jonathan once said, âHe was a bold man that first ate an oysterâ.
So, in a gratuitous attempt at sport and music ecumenicism, we have flicked our way through Miss Swiftâs vast discography to apply her words of wisdom to the eight All-Ireland senior football quarter-finalists.
Which team will cursing this championship as a 'Cruel Summer' over these next couple of days? Will there be an 'Anti-Hero', might the low block defence go out of 'Style' or will managers afterwards counter-claim about the other, 'Look What You Made Me Do'?
What is certain is Taylorâs got a song for everyone:
- âSoon Youâll Get Betterâ from âLoverâÂ
"So It GoesâŠâ from âReputationâ.
â âSuburban Legendsâ from extended â1989â.
â âGuilty as Sin?â from âThe Tortured Poets Departmentâ.
â âMaroonâ from âMidnightsâ.
âLong, long live the walls we crashed through/how the kingdom lights shined just for me and you/And I was screaming, âLong live all the magic we madeââ
â âLong Liveâ from âSpeak Nowâ.
â âShake It Offâ from â1989â.
â âThe Alchemyâ from âThe Tortured Poets Departmentâ.
