Shane O’Hanlon, selector to Dublin in their last eight Dublin’s All-Ireland senior football successes, has passed away.
The St Vincent’s man was part of Jim Gavin and Dessie Farrell’s management teams going back to 2009.
Known for his logistics acumen, O’Hanlon had previously assisted Gavin during his successful spell as Dublin U21 football manager as they claimed two All-Irelands in four years.
He was also a selector when St Vincent’s won county, Leinster and All-Ireland titles in the 2007-8 season.
A Dublin GAA statement: “Shane was an integral part of the Dublin Senior Football family and a key contributor to the success of Dublin GAA, firstly with the U21s and then with the Senior football team for more than a decade.
“During his time with Dublin, we have won 8 Senior All Ireland titles, 6 National League titles and 2 U21 All Irelands.
“Shane was previously a selector with his club St Vincent’s when they won Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland honours.
“Shane’s contribution to Dublin GAA has been immeasurable both in terms of his influence to the performance of the team on the field but also to the culture, values and spirit of the Dublin Senior Football panel.
“In addition to his role as selector, Shane also fulfilled the position of logistics manager for the Senior Football team.
“Shane was a gentleman and a true friend to all. He was widely known to all in the GAA community in Dublin and indeed across the country.
"He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all within Dublin GAA and beyond. To his wife Mary, his family and his many friends, Dublin GAA extends our deepest condolences.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
Dublin’s former head of analysis Ray Boyne posted on X: “Just hearing of the very sad passing of Shane O’Hanlon.
"God he loved St Vincent’s and Dublin GAA with an incredible passion. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
