Intermediate glory for Boherlahan-Dualla

After three years in the intermediate grade, Boherlahan-Dualla claimed the Tipperary intermediate hurling title and promotion to Premier Intermediate grade with a clear-cut 3-15 to 0-15 win over Golden-Kilfeacle at Semple Stadium on Sunday.
Boherlahan had the greater overall scoring potential but Jack Leamy’s free-taking kept Golden in the chase. Leamy hit seven points without reply from the sixth to 17th minute as Golden led 0-8 to 1-2, Boherlahan’s goal coming from Darragh Hickey after five minutes.
Tomas Ryan netted a penalty for Boherlahan as the sides were all square at the break, 2-6 to 0-9. Things started going awry for Golden on resuming as they had Daithi Bargary red-carded. Boherlahan were 2-15 to 0-15 ahead when Golden's Cian Ryan was also dismissed.
Boherlahan took full advantage with points from Tomas Ryan, Seamus Leahy and an injury time David Clare goal to seal their win.
Tomas Ryan was Boherlahan’s top performer with Seamus Leahy, Colm O Dwyer, Martin Paul O Dwyer and Ger O Dwyer also prominent.
Jack Leamy led the way for Golden with most support coming from Cian O Connell, Ben Currivan, Aidan O Connell and Seanie O Halloran.
Meanwhile, Thurles Sarsfields' second string also face a replay after Saturday's Premier Intermediate final with Lorrha finished level - Lorrha 2-15, Thurles Sarsfields 1-18.
A brilliant late 1-2 cameo from sub Mikey O'Brien saved Thurles. Christopher Fogarty had a goal in each half for Lorrha.
In the senior relegation playoff, 14-man JK Brackens secured their senior status with a narrow 0-18 to 1-14 win over Upperchurch-Drombane in a thrilling game at The Ragg on Saturday.
Upperchurch had a Pat Ryan goal after 14 minutes to lead 1-2 to 0-4 and were leading 1-8 to 0-8 when J K Brackens had Shane Doyle red-carded after 25 minutes.
The Church led 1-11 to 0-10 at half-time but Brackens dominated the third quarter and with Lyndon Fairbrother razor sharp off frees, they were level 0-14 to 1-11.
Further points from Fairbrother (3) and Conor Cadell had them 0-18 to 1-11 but Upperchurch got back into the game in the last quarter and points from Pat Ryan and Padraic Greene (2) left them just one point adrift in injury time. But Brackens held their nerve to end Upperchurch-Drombane's 25 years in the top flight.
