Former Galway hurler Fergal Healy has moved from the post of county minor manager to become the new Galway U20 boss.
Healy was announced on Wednesday morning as the new U20 manager on a three-year term.
As he was for this year’s minor campaign, which ended in All-Ireland final defeat to Clare, Healy will again be assisted on the sideline by Joe Canning, James Skehill, Eamon Cleary, and Padraic Duddy.
Healy’s two years as minor boss saw the county fall at the All-Ireland semi-final and final stage respectively.
Corner-forward on the Galway team that came up short to Tipp in the 2001 All-Ireland decider, Healy succeeds Brian Hanley in the U20 post.
“We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to outgoing U20 Manager Brian Hanley, his coaches, selectors, and backroom team. Brian and his team have done outstanding work in Galway over the last five years at both minor and U20 level, winning two All-Ireland minor titles in that period. We thank them for their efforts and commitment since 2019,” said a Galway GAA statement.
Galway last won the U20 competition - then U21 - in 2011.
